Our Story
Supporting Irish Businesses Since 2009
EcoMerit was established to provide Irish businesses with a practical and accessible approach to environmental management and sustainability improvement.
Recognising that many organisations wanted to improve environmental performance but were often faced with overly complex systems and significant administrative demands, EcoMerit developed a structured framework (with financial support from the EPA), designed specifically for businesses seeking practical outcomes, measurable savings and credible certification.
Today, EcoMerit supports organisations across multiple sectors through Environmental Certification, Environmental Sustainability & Governance (ESG) Reporting, Carbon Reduction Planning and advisory services.
Our goal remains simple: helping businesses become more sustainable while strengthening performance, improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Meet The EcoMerit Team

Together, we work closely with organisations to develop tailored solutions that support environmental improvement and long-term business success.
Christian oversees EcoMerit’s certification activities, ensuring businesses achieve recognised standards while maintaining the integrity, credibility and consistency of the certification framework.
Eoin leads EcoMerit’s technical and systems services, supporting organisations through environmental monitoring, energy performance analysis, certification processes and technical sustainability projects.
Fiona leads ESG services, sustainability reporting and training programmes, helping organisations navigate emerging sustainability requirements while building internal knowledge and capability.
Áine supports EcoMerit members throughout their certification journey and annual surveillance activities. She also assists with public tender submissions and plays an important role in strengthening EcoMerit’s internal operations through her organisation, efficiency and attention to detail.
James is an Environmental Consultant & Project Manager with the Clean Technology Centre at MTU. He has supported more than 1,000 SMEs to improve their environmental performance and competitiveness through resource efficiency, energy management, circular economy initiatives, and environmental certification programmes.
Independent Oversight & Governance
EcoMerit is supported by an independent Oversight Board comprising experienced professionals from engineering, sustainability, education, governance and business backgrounds.
The role of the Oversight Board is to provide independent oversight of the EcoMerit Certification Framework, helping ensure that certification standards remain robust, transparent and aligned with best practice.
This governance structure strengthens confidence in EcoMerit Certification and supports the continuous improvement of the programme.
